Big Boost for Hong Kong Yacht Tourism: New 200-Berth Marina Planned for Aberdeen

Hong Kong is set to get its first new marina in nearly 40 years. The Development Bureau will launch a tender in the first half of 2027 for a 200-berth marina at Aberdeen, with completion targeted for 2032.

Located on a 1.16-hectare site near Po Chong Wan, the project will provide:

  • 200 berths for yachts up to 50 metres

  • A modern yacht clubhouse with repair facilities, catering and retail

  • Around 250 private residential flats

The development includes two new breakwaters and forms part of the government’s plan to expand yacht tourism across Island South, including additional berths at Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter and other locations.

This long-awaited infrastructure directly addresses Hong Kong’s chronic berthing shortage and will make the city a stronger yachting destination in Asia.

At Asia Yacht Services, we welcome this major step forward. More quality berths mean better options for owners, smoother charter operations, and exciting new cruising possibilities.
