Designed by Farr Yacht Design in 1996, the Farr 40 One Design was conceived as a high performance 40 footer suitable for both short course racing as well as being able to compete in the offshore classes. She is easy to tune with simple arrangements that will not take time and energy from the primary advantage of sailboat racing. Circus was built by the reputable US yard Carrol Marine. Her design with the full hull length waterline allows for a good balance between upwind and downwind performance. her low gravity keel bolted to an internal aluminium frame provides a stiff and robust structure.

Circus has been subject to a recent and extensive refit. Substantial work was done on the appendages, standing and running rigging, engine and (new) saildrive.

Sailed casually during the last two years.

Her sails are in good condition for Club racing but for serious regattas she would now require a new wardrobe.

Her last IRC rating was issued in 2011 and may well be optimised with age allowance and a carefully selected sail wardrobe.

Great boat with lots of racing pedigree and timeless design.

Excellent choice for a syndicate dedicated to racing the Asia circuit.

Most of the hard work has been done, just sails and instruments and a crew to race her!
