PROTECTION SYSTEMS FOR THE MARINE INDUSTRY
Yachts, in particular in subtropical and tropical waters, are increasingly suffering from the consequences of lightning strikes. Perhaps the material damage to the yacht might (still)be compensated by insurers. However, loss of life or individual injury, lost time, the impairment of the yacht, the cancelled vacation, the loss of charter income, other accompanying expenses and the uncomfortable feeling of insecurity caused by a lightning strike, remains.
The solution to these challenges is now available:

The DINNTECO DDCE patented system against lightning strikes.
DINNTECO DDCE Marine and Dinfil sytems
The DDCE Marine System avoids lightning strikes instead of attracting them.

A conventional system attracts lightning and discharges it in a controlled path back to the water. Due to the small distance of travel on a yacht, the strike induced over voltage creates maximum damage to electrical equipment often including damage to the mast itself.

Instead, DINNTECO protects against the atmospheric discharge and avoids the impact of the lightning strike. In addition, the recommended DINFIL ground filter protects electronic equipment from indirect lightning strikes via shire power or the water.
Technical Data:
Product DDCE Marine
Material: Stainless Steel
Weight: 2,5-6,5 KG
Coverage radius: Approx. 100M
Applications: Structure at sea or on land
Certification:
CE Mark(Directive 2001/95/EC & 2004/108/CE
Lightning Protection - UNE-EN (IEC 62305:2012) Part 1 (General Principles)
2 (Risk Assessment) and 3 (Physical damage to structures and human risk)
NATO NO: NCAGE: SYN37
The DDCE Marine is specially designed for sailing yachts, catamarans and motor yachts as well as commercial vessels. It follows the rolling sphere method to calculate the radius of protection. In order to install the correct DDCE Marine unit and DINFILL filter, we will study the yacht’s specification first before recommending the correct models and size and their correct installation. The DINNTECO DDCE marine units come in 4 sizes, Large, Medium, Light and Mini Lite.
The DDCE unit must be placed at the appropriate height but above all antennae and other mast top equipment (We can supply the appropriate mast brackets in stainless steel and in Carbon Fibre). The special copper wire will go through the mast to the bottom of the yacht where it must be grounded (We are able to supply the correct copper wire and ground plates)
Maintenance should be annual to maintain the Dinnteco 3 year warranty for its DDCE products.

Why is it so important to protect your yacht?Yacht owners are increasingly suffering from the consequences of lightning strikes. Although the material damage to the yacht is compensated by insurers, the lost time, the cancelled vacation, the lack of charter income, the impairment of the yacht other accompanying costs and the great feeling of insecurity caused by a lightning strike remain.
-
How to install it & how before receiving all parts?Installation is fairly simple and subcontracted to yacht experts in your area. Shipping will be from Hong Kong to your location and take less than 2 weeks.
-
How much does it costs?Prices of such devices will vary following the boat characteristics (size, number of devices..) Boat owners typically have to pay for 2 different charges 1 - For the devices 2 - For the set up (if necessary) Total for the charges are arround 120 000 HKD.
-
What is a DDCE?The DDCE (Electromagnetic Charge Compensation Device) is a system of protection against atmospheric discharges and an electromagnetic protector that avoids the impact of the lightning strike on the protected structure.
-
What is a SPD?For the eventuality that the lightning strike will hit the water outside the protected area, a sufficient protection against electromagnetic impulses (EMP) is recommended. For the electronic equipment are these EMP’s just as dangerous as direct strikes. The harmful EMP can move hundreds of meters and enters the inside of the boat through conductive parts in the hull. To protect the electronic equipment from EMP’s we recommend installing a dinfil ground filter which reduces the high frequencies. The remaining low frequencies will be discharged to ground by a surge protector (SPD).
-
How does it work?Defined as pasive collector system of electrostatic currents on time, that takes them to ground. The operating principle is based on balancing or compensate the variable electric field on the environment, avoiding the upward leader on the DDCE and on to the protected structure.
